Quest Group is looking for a Sr. Data Analyst for a client located in Buckhead GA .This is a contract position that is slated to continue into 2018, and could eventually transition to a permanent position as well. 


Position Summary

The Sr. Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing data for technical reports.The position will support all data, analysis, programming, and information-system needs for evaluating and reporting on reliability assessments. In coordination with the team, this role will seek out data and information system solutions to manage data submissions from the electric industry, identify automated approaches for analyzing and linking data with other sources, develop and implement novel data visualization techniques, and provide recommendations to management for further improvement.

The Sr. Data Analyst works closely with engineering teams to identify data and database requirements, as well as Project Management Office to support application development. The Data Analyst reports to the Director of Reliability Assessment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage data processes and systems for engineering teams charged with assessing and evaluating

  • Strengthen data collection and validation processes by designing, creating, testing, and implementing data checking systems to streamline and accommodate an increasing amount of data.

  • Lead efforts to link disparate internal databases.

  • Proactively identify and suggest solutions to technical analysis and data problems.

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports

  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

  • Acquire and process data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Filter and “clean” data through various forensic initiatives

  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs

  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

  • Provide data, processing, analysis, and data visualization support to turn data into intelligence

  • Leverage statistical skills to support risk and predictive analyses.

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and information needs of staff members, industry professionals, and government agencies


Required Qualifications :
The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science with emphasis on statistics, mathematics, and computer and information management, or equivalent technical training.

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst, business data analyst, data scientist, or programmer

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with data visualization packages, preferable Microsoft Power BI

  • Experience manipulating data using SQL 

  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Adept at SQL queries, report writing, and presenting findings with attention to details and visualization techniques.

  • Strong statistical and analytical skills

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex issues and problems.

  • Goal oriented with drive and passion to learn.

  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively with teams and support multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred but not Required:

  • Advanced Statistical experience, including experience with statistical programming languages (R, R Studio).

  • Basic understanding of the electric power industry including bulk power system operations and/or planning.

  • Engineer of Reliability Performance Analysis 3

  • Proficient in writing both for technical and general public consumption.

  • Customer-service and support background helpful.
